The Kukui Nut Tree Is The Hawaiian State Tree And Now Is Mostly Used As A Welcoming Gift. Traditionally It Represented Beauty And Social Standing Or As A Sign Of An Agreement Between Chiefs. In The Past Only Chiefs Wore These Leis And The Nut In The Natural State Before Sanding And Polishing Had Too Many Uses To List Here. They Included Using The Oil As A Moisturizer And Burning For Light. The Kukui Nut Tree Is Not Indigenous To Hawaii, It Was Introduced By Polynesian Settlers From Tahiti.
